Our Mission

We built Pluck because saving recipes from social media shouldn't be this hard. You find an incredible pasta recipe on Instagram, a quick weeknight dinner on TikTok, or a baking tutorial on YouTube - and then what? Screenshot it? Bookmark it? Copy the caption into your notes app?

Those recipes get lost. Buried in your camera roll, scattered across apps, impossible to find when you actually want to cook. Read our guide on saving recipes from social media.

Pluck solves this. Paste a URL, upload a photo, and get a clean, structured recipe - with ingredients, instructions, cook times, and tags - saved to your personal recipe box. Ready when you are.

Who We Are

Built by a small team of home cooks and engineers who got tired of losing recipes to the scroll. We've all been there - screenshotting a pasta recipe at midnight, then never finding it again. Pluck is the app we wished existed, so we built it ourselves.

How It Works

Share a recipe source

Paste a URL from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, any food blog, or upload a photo of a recipe card or cookbook page. Pluck accepts any content that contains a recipe.

AI extraction

Our AI analyzes the content - whether it's a web page, social media post, video, or image. For videos, Pluck watches the footage and listens to the audio to capture spoken recipes and on-screen instructions. It identifies and extracts the recipe title, ingredients with quantities, step-by-step instructions, cook times, servings, cuisine type, and more. For web pages with structured recipe data (like JSON-LD), Pluck gets extra-high accuracy.

Review and save

You review the extracted recipe, make any edits, add tags, and save it to your recipe box. Every recipe is fully editable - Pluck gives you a starting point, and you make it yours.

Cook with AI help

When you're ready to cook, open any recipe and ask the AI cooking assistant for help. Need a substitution for an ingredient? Want to scale the recipe for more people? Unsure about a technique? The assistant knows your recipe and can help in real time.

The Technology

Pluck uses multiple AI models to ensure accurate recipe extraction. When you share a URL, we fetch the page content, detect any structured recipe data, and for videos, analyze the footage and audio. Everything goes through our AI pipeline, and the result is a confidence-scored recipe that you can review before saving. Learn how AI extraction compares to web clipping.

For images, our AI vision system reads recipe cards, cookbook pages, and handwritten notes to extract structured recipe data. It's not perfect - and we show you a confidence score so you know when to double-check - but it handles the heavy lifting so you don't have to type everything out manually.

Our Privacy Commitment

Privacy isn't an afterthought - it's core to how we built Pluck. Your recipes and cooking data are yours, not ours to monetize.

How Privacy Works in Practice

Recipe extraction: When you paste a URL or upload a photo, Pluck fetches the content and sends it through our AI pipeline for extraction. The raw content is processed in real time and is not stored after extraction is complete. Only the structured recipe you choose to save is kept.

Your recipe box: Saved recipes are stored in your personal account and synced across your devices. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Your recipe data is never used for advertising, never shared with third parties, and never sold.

AI providers: We use third-party AI models for recipe extraction and the cooking assistant. All AI providers operate under strict data processing agreements that prohibit them from training on your data. Your recipes and conversations with the AI assistant are not retained by the AI provider.

Analytics and tracking: We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how people use Pluck in aggregate. Analytics are disabled by default and only activated with your explicit opt-in consent. We do not use fingerprinting, cross-site tracking, or any form of surveillance advertising.
