Recipes & Extraction
Can I choose between imperial and metric measurements?
Pluck extracts recipes using whatever units the original recipe uses. To convert measurements, open the recipe and tap the AI cooking assistant — just ask it to convert the recipe to metric or imperial and it will do it for you. You can then apply the changes to your saved recipe.
How can I choose the language for my recipes?
Pluck extracts recipes in the language of the original source. If you want to translate a recipe, open it and tap the AI cooking assistant — just ask it to translate the recipe to your preferred language and it will do it for you. You can then apply the changes to your saved recipe. We're also working on adding full multi-language support to the app itself.
How accurate is the AI extraction?
Pluck shows a confidence score for every extraction so you know how reliable the result is. Recipes with clear, written ingredients and instructions score highest. You can always review and edit the extracted recipe before saving. Learn more about how Pluck works.
Can I edit a recipe after saving it?
Yes. Every recipe in your recipe box is fully editable. You can change the title, ingredients, instructions, servings, cook times, tags, and more at any time.
Why don't Instagram Reels or videos play back inside Pluck?
Instagram does not allow third-party apps to embed or play back their videos. When you save an Instagram Reel or video post, Pluck shows the thumbnail image with a play button overlay — this is what Instagram's API provides. The important thing is that Pluck still extracts the full recipe from the video by analyzing the video frames, audio, and caption during extraction. You get the complete recipe with ingredients and instructions — you just can't replay the original video inside Pluck.
Do I need to be logged into Instagram for Pluck to work?
No. Pluck fetches the recipe from the public URL. Private accounts won't work, but any public recipe post, Reel, or Story can be extracted.
What about Instagram Stories?
Stories with shareable links can be processed. For temporary stories that have expired, take a screenshot and use Pluck's photo extraction feature instead.
Other Platforms
Can Pluck extract recipes from TikTok?
Yes! Share a TikTok directly to Pluck or paste the URL. Pluck watches the video, listens to the audio, and reads the description to extract the full recipe — even when the recipe is only spoken or shown on screen. Learn more about TikTok.
Does Pluck work with food blogs and websites?
Absolutely. Pluck works with any URL that contains recipe content — food blogs, YouTube descriptions, news articles, and more. It even detects structured recipe data (JSON-LD) for extra accuracy. Learn more.
Can I save recipes from photos?
Yes. Take a photo of a recipe card, cookbook page, or handwritten recipe and upload it. Or snap a photo of a finished dish — Pluck identifies what it is and generates a best-guess recipe. Learn more.
