Pluck: A Bring! Alternative That Starts with the Recipe

Bring! is one of the most used shopping list apps in Germany, Switzerland and Austria: a shared list with a picture catalog, loyalty cards and store offers, in 13 languages. Recipes are a side feature. By Bring!'s own description, importing one saves the ingredient list and a link back to the website, and there is no meal plan or cook mode. Pluck works the other way round: it saves the whole recipe from a website, a video or a photo, plans your week from your recipes, and turns the plan into a grocery list you share with up to 5 people.

Where Bring! falls short

A recipe is an ingredient list and a link

Bring! describes its recipe import as saving the ingredient list and the link to the recipe. The method stays on the original website, so there is nothing to cook from offline, and if the page goes away so do the steps. Bring!'s help pages also say searching your saved recipes is not available.

No meal plan

Bring!'s store listing, feature page and help centre list no meal planner. Its own guide to planning the week is to save recipes and add their ingredients to a list.

Ads in the free version

Google Play labels Bring! as containing ads, and Bring! sells sponsored product placements on the shopping list itself. Premium costs $1.99 a month or $8.99 a year (€1.99 or €9.99 in Germany).

Nothing from videos or photos

Bring! imports recipes from partner sites and from websites with standard recipe markup. It documents no import from Instagram, TikTok or YouTube and no photo scanning.

What Pluck does differently

The whole recipe, kept

Pluck saves ingredients and steps as your own editable copy, available offline. It reads them from a website, from a cooking video's frames, audio and caption, or from a photo of a cookbook page.

A week planned from your own recipes

Put recipes on a weekly meal plan, or on Plus and Pro let Fill my week plan it from your recipe box: favourites mixed with ones you haven't tried, and dishes that share fresh ingredients so less goes to waste. How it works.

The list still gets shared

The week becomes one grocery list with duplicates merged, amounts added up and items sorted by aisle. Invite up to 5 people; everyone adds and ticks off items, and changes show on each phone within seconds. No ads on any plan.

Cook mode and help at the stove

One step at a time with the ingredients for that step and timers that ring even when the app is closed. On paid plans, "Ask about this step" brings in an AI cooking assistant that knows the recipe.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pluck a good Bring! alternative?

If you mainly want a shopping list, Bring! does more: a picture catalog, loyalty cards, store offers, a watch app and 13 languages. If you want the list to come out of recipes you saved and a week you planned, Pluck is the better fit. Plenty of households will be happy with either.

Can I share a shopping list in Pluck like in Bring!?

Yes. Open a grocery list, tap Share list and send the invite link. Up to 5 other people can join, each with their own free Pluck account, and changes show up on each phone within seconds. Sharing is free on every plan. More on sharing a grocery list.

Does Bring! have a meal planner?

None is listed in its store listing, feature page or help centre. Pluck has a weekly meal plan on every plan, and on Plus and Pro, Fill my week plans the week for you from your own recipes.

Can Bring! save a full recipe?

By its own description, a recipe imported into Bring! is the ingredient list and a link to the original page. Pluck saves the ingredients and the steps as an editable copy that stays in your recipe box.

Does Pluck have loyalty cards, store offers or a watch app?

No. Pluck has no loyalty card wallet, no store brochures or offers, no Apple Watch or Wear OS app and no web app. Those are Bring!'s strengths.

Is Pluck free, and does it show ads?

Pluck is free with 3 recipe extractions a month and 10 saved recipes, and the free plan includes the meal plan for the current week, shared grocery lists, cook mode and "What can I cook?". Paid plans start at $2.99/month. There are no ads on any plan.
