Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pluck mobile application ("App") and the tools on the Pluck website at pluckrecipes.com ("Website"), together the "Service", operated by Hjers Consulting AB ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

Pluck is a mobile application that uses artificial intelligence to extract recipes from URLs, images, videos, and social media posts (including photo carousels and slideshows) into a personal recipe box. The App also provides:

• An AI-powered cooking assistant, and a cook mode with step-by-step instructions and timers
• Recipe groups, and import of recipes from other recipe apps
• Meal planning, including Fill my week, which uses AI to suggest meals for the empty days in your plan
• Grocery lists, which you can share with other people
• Pantry scan, which uses AI to spot ingredients in photos you take and to create recipe ideas from them
• Recipe sharing through public links

The Website offers a free recipe extractor that works without an account. Which features you can use, and how much, depends on your plan (Section 5.1).

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the App. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we learn that a user is under 16, we will terminate their account and delete their data.

3. Account Registration

• You may sign in using Google or Apple authentication
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• You must provide accurate information during registration
• You may not create multiple accounts for abusive purposes

4. Guest Mode

You may try the App as a guest with limited functionality: the Free plan's limits (Section 5.1), no AI cooking assistant, no sharing of recipes or grocery lists, and no contributions to the shared recipe cache. Guest data is stored on our servers but is not associated with a permanent account. A guest account that is not used for 30 days is deleted automatically, together with all its data. Creating an account is required for full access and to ensure your data is preserved long-term.

5. Plans, Subscriptions and Billing

5.1 Plans

The App offers the following plans:

• Monthly limits reset on the first day of each calendar month (UTC). Unused allowance does not carry over.
• Every recipe extraction counts towards your limit, including one that loads instantly because another user already added the same link. Creating a recipe from a pantry scan also counts as a recipe extraction.
• Sharing grocery lists is available on every plan for signed-in users.

5.2 Billing and Auto-Renewal

The Light, Plus and Pro plans are sold as monthly or annual subscriptions through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your device. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. A lifetime Pro option is also available as a one-time purchase. If a renewal payment fails, the app store may keep your plan active for a short grace period while it retries the payment. A plan bought on one platform applies to your account on all your devices.

5.3 Pricing

Current pricing is displayed in the App. We may update pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes to an active subscription follow the rules of the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

5.4 Changing Plans

You can upgrade or downgrade between Light, Plus and Pro through the App or your app store's subscription settings. The Apple App Store or Google Play Store decides when the change takes effect and handles any proration.

5.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device's app store settings (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period - you retain access to premium features until then.

5.6 When a Plan Ends or You Downgrade

We never delete your data because your plan changed. Your recipes, conversations, recipe groups and grocery lists stay available, and the new plan's limits apply only to new actions. For example, on the Free plan you cannot save more recipes while you have 10 or more, create a fourth recipe group, or plan meals outside the current week. Meal plan entries outside the current week are kept, and you can reach them again when you upgrade.

5.7 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies. To request a refund, contact Apple App Store Support or Google Play Support directly. We do not process payments or refunds directly. If a purchase is refunded, the plan it paid for ends immediately.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Submit content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Use automated means to access the Service beyond its intended use, including the Website's recipe extractor
• Abuse rate limits or attempt to circumvent usage restrictions
• Submit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content to the AI assistant
• Share recipes, images or grocery list items that are unlawful, offensive, or that you do not have the right to share
• Contribute corrections to the shared recipe cache that are spam, offensive, or not a genuine improvement to the recipe
• Use grocery list invites to harass or spam other people

7. Content

7.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all recipes, images, and other content you create or upload to the App. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, process and display your content as necessary to provide the Service to you and to the people you choose to share it with (e.g., sending recipe text to AI providers for extraction or cooking assistance). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except as described in Sections 7.2 and 7.3.

7.2 Content You Share

• Recipe share links - when you share a recipe, a copy of it is published behind a public link that anyone with the link can open and save. The link keeps working after you delete the recipe or your account, because other people may have saved it. To have a link taken down, email us the link at privacy@pluckrecipes.com.
• Shared grocery lists - when you share a grocery list, or join one, the people on it see your display name and profile photo and can add, change, tick off and delete its items. The owner decides who is on the list and can remove members or stop sharing at any time. Items you add to a list stay on it if you leave.

For as long as a share link or shared list exists, you allow us to show the content you shared to the people who can open it. You confirm that you have the right to share it, including any images you upload.

7.3 Contributions to the Shared Recipe Cache

When you extract a recipe from a public link, the result is kept in a shared cache so the next person who adds the same link gets it straight away. If you choose to contribute your corrections to a cached recipe, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, adapt and show your corrected version to other users of the Service. Your contribution stays in the cache after you delete your account, without any link to you. We check contributions automatically and may decline or remove any of them.

7.4 Extracted Recipes

Recipes extracted from third-party URLs and videos are sourced from publicly available content. We do not claim ownership of extracted recipe content. You are responsible for ensuring your use of extracted recipes complies with applicable copyright laws and the source's terms of use.

7.5 AI-Generated Content

Cooking assistant responses, recipes created from pantry scans (marked as AI-created in the App), Fill my week suggestions and extracted recipes are generated by third-party AI models. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. You should use your own judgment when following it, especially regarding food safety, allergens, and dietary restrictions. Check the ingredients of an AI-created recipe before you cook it.

7.6 Feedback

If you send us feedback or suggestions, in the App or on the Website, we may use them to improve the Service without any obligation to you.

8. AI Processing

The Service uses third-party AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) to extract recipes, answer cooking questions, spot ingredients in pantry scans, create recipes and suggest meal plans. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

• Recipe text, images, video frames, audio transcripts, pantry scan photos, chat messages, and for Fill my week a summary of your recipes and cooking history, are sent to AI providers for processing
• No personal identifiers (email, user ID, etc.) are sent to AI providers
• AI providers do not use your data to train their models (per our agreements)
• AI extraction results may not be perfectly accurate - always review extracted recipes
• AI assistant responses are informational and not a substitute for professional advice

9. Video Processing

The App can extract recipes from video URLs (including TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, and Facebook). Video processing works as follows:

• Video content is downloaded, through a proxy network, and processed on our servers to extract frames and audio
• Audio is transcribed using AI (OpenAI Whisper) to capture spoken recipe instructions
• Video processing is asynchronous and may take one to two minutes to complete
• You will receive a notification when the extracted recipe is ready
• The downloaded video and audio are deleted when processing ends, and the extracted frames within 24 hours. The audio transcript is kept with the processing record until you delete your account, as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Usage Limits

In addition to the plan limits in Section 5.1, the following limits apply to prevent abuse and keep the Service usable:

• Recipe extraction: 30 requests per hour and 100 per day
• AI assistant: 20 messages per minute; up to 50 messages per conversation, 5 conversations per recipe, and 2,000 characters per message
• Data export: 1 request per hour
• Shared grocery lists: up to 5 people besides the owner
• Website recipe extractor: 5 recipes per day per visitor

Usage limits are enforced per account and per device to prevent abuse. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits is a violation of these Terms (see Section 6). We reserve the right to adjust these limits to maintain service quality.

11. Disclaimers

11.1 Service Availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or free from errors.

11.2 AI Accuracy

AI-extracted recipes, AI-created recipes, meal suggestions and cooking assistant responses may contain inaccuracies, including incorrect ingredient quantities, missing allergen information, or unsafe cooking instructions. Always verify recipe details and use your own judgment when cooking. We are not liable for any harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.

11.3 Third-Party Content

We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or quality of content from third-party websites or videos that you submit for recipe extraction, or of content other users share with you.

11.4 Timers and Reminders

Cooking timers and dinner reminders run on your device and depend on its notification, sound and battery settings. Do not rely on them alone where timing matters for food safety.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages arising from:

• Inaccurate AI-extracted or AI-generated recipes or cooking advice
• Loss of data or recipes
• Service interruptions or downtime
• Unauthorized access to your account

Our total liability for any claim related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or EUR 50, whichever is greater.

13. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

14. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time from Settings > Privacy > Delete My Account
• We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms
• When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted as soon as you confirm, and in every case within 72 hours, except for what our Privacy Policy says is kept (anonymised consent records, public recipe links you created, and recipes in the shared recipe cache)
• Grocery lists you own and have shared are deleted for everyone on them when you delete your account
• Active subscriptions are not automatically cancelled when you delete your account - cancel your subscription through your app store settings first to avoid further charges

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

16. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved by the courts of Sweden.

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable local law, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
