Switch from Mela to Pluck

Mela is a beautifully designed recipe manager for Apple devices. But if you've ever wanted Android support, video recipe extraction, or an AI assistant that answers your cooking questions - Pluck has you covered. Here's how to move your recipe collection over.

How to export your Mela recipes

1

Open Mela on your Apple device

Launch Mela on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. The export feature works the same across all Apple platforms.

2

Select recipes to export

You can export individual recipes or your entire collection. To export all, go to your recipe list and select all recipes using the Edit button.

3

Export as Mela backup

Use the share sheet and choose Export as Mela Backup (.melarecipes). This creates a backup file containing all your recipes, images, and metadata. You can also export individual recipes as text.

4

Import into Pluck

Pluck's recipe import feature is in development. Once available, you'll be able to upload your Mela backup file and your recipes will be converted and organized automatically.

Import to Pluck - available soon

Pluck's import feature is in development. Download Pluck on iOS or Android in the meantime - your Mela recipes will transfer seamlessly once import launches.

Why people switch from Mela

Works on Android too

Mela is Apple-only. If you have family members on Android, want to share your tablet, or switch phones - your recipes are stuck. Pluck works on both iOS and Android with full feature parity and automatic sync.

AI that watches cooking videos

Mela extracts recipes from websites using HTML parsing. But it can't handle cooking videos at all. Pluck watches TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram Reels - analyzing video frames, transcribing audio, and reading on-screen text to construct complete written recipes.

Social media recipe extraction

Mela supports food blog URLs but can't extract recipes from Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other social platforms. Pluck handles them all - just paste a link or share the post directly to the app.
